| Born and raised in the US Virgin Islands, basketball player Tim Duncan is a superstar, both for his prowess on court, and his philanthropy beyond it. One of the greatest power forwards in NBA history, Duncan was the league's top draft pick in 1997 and NBA Rookie of the Year. He has led the San Antonio Spurs to four NBA Championships, was twice named League MVP, thrice Finals MVP, and 12 times to the All-Star Team. Duncan's foundation works in both the United States and the Virgin Islands. Ironically, Duncan only turned to basketball after Hurricane Hugo destroyed the only Olympic swimming pool on St. Croix, and Duncan's dreams of swimming at the Olympics |
